Thanks for joining LIFECLASS once again. I welcome and appreciate you with all of my heart for joining in. You know there’s no teacher without the class.

Please visit our website: to catch all episodes of LIFECLASS and access all other resources such as our newly released book – titled, “Focus on What is Working”. We thank Jesus for everything. We started a new series in the last episode titled – GUSH OF ABUNDANCE and in that first episode we looked at the topic: SUDDENLY.

Today, I title the class –  ‘Prepare For The Sudden Gush‘. I just couldn’t leave that ‘SUDDENLY’ episode because it is loaded with virtue. Even though a gush happens suddenly and not gradually, yet it takes so much preparation before the outburst and boom. When people dig wells, they hit water suddenly, but that is after many days of digging and digging hard. There’s always a preparation before the gush!

In today’s class, I want to show you that so many preparations go down before we get that sudden gush of abundance. The examples are just many all over the scriptures and even in our own present times. But I will share only a few today.

Very quickly, let me show you the reason I had to stay close with this ‘SUDDENLY’ phenomenon. In the book of Acts, Chapter 2 from verse 1, the Bible says:

1. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

Bible says the disciples were gathered in one accord in one place, and then suddenly, there was a gush of abundance, Abundance of the spirit. So when we talk about abundance, please do not always think we’re referring to material abundance only. Believe me, the kind of abundance that gushed on the disciples here is the best form of abundance you can ever get: The abundance of the spirit. But it is an exclusive reserve for sons (Born again children of God). If you aren’t born again yet, listening to this. I’m glad you came, please give your life to Jesus.

For a moment, let me express my feeling about our approach to God and our priorities. If you really want abundance on just anything in life, please crave for the abundance of the Holy Spirit. Lack of this form of abundance will result in dryness in several areas. Now, avoid substituting being busy for Him for being filled by Him with this abundance of the spirit.

The abundance of the Spirit is another series for another day but get my point here. Don’t go about asking for abundance or waiting for a gush, when your spirit is dry or you haven’t received the abundance of the spirit. It’s important! Very important! Say, Lord Jesus, I wait for the rain of your spirit. Fill me till I’m overflown!

Now, I return to the point in focus. You need to always prepare for abundance. That preparation may take a lifetime, but when the abundance comes, it comes suddenly. If you don’t prepare for it, there may never be a gush. There will be showers of blessings, but there may not be the rain of blessings. As a matter of fact, your level of preparation is what determines the quality of abundant gush that you experience!

In the above scripture, we see an abundance of the spirit gush on the apostles like the rush of a mighty wind, but we may be tempted to think it just came without preparation. Oh no! In Acts, chapter 1 verse 4, we see that The Lord Jesus had commanded them to remain at Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the father. In verses 13 and 14 of that same chapter, we saw that they did not just wait idly or hopelessly, they prepared for it. Bible says in verse 14 that

14. All continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

So there you have it! They got a gush of abundance in chapter 2 verse 1, but that was because they prepared for it in chapter 1 verses 13 and 14.

Pause for a moment. Ask yourself. Are you preparing for your gush of abundance?

Preparation is key in everything we do. If you never prepare for anything, you will not get anything right. In your line of work, do you prepare for every assignment? Or you’re so used to what you do that you never prepare anymore. Preparation is a lifetime exercise. You must always be found preparing for something. In reality, if you never prepare, you even limit the number of opportunities that God brings your way because our God is a God of excellence. And no one achieves excellence without preparation. God himself hates giving people opportunities they will fail at, just because they failed to prepare before those opportunities came. The humble truth is, even though in school, we’re taught lessons, and then we prepare for examinations. In real life, it’s the other way round. We prepare continuously without prior knowledge of the tests or opportunities that come our way. If you’re always ready for your miracle, then that abundant gush is just around the corner

Consider Joseph in the example I gave yesterday, who became a prime minister in the space of an hour and rose from being a prisoner to become the richest man in the land. Wait a minute and remember that this same Joseph had prepared for this sudden outburst all his life. At one point, in chapter 37 verse 17, he was looking for his brothers so passionately that he was sold into slavery in Potiphar’s yard. He sacrificed his comfort rather than fornicate with his master’s wife in Gen 39 verse 12; then he interpreted dreams for free in the prison Gen 40 verse 12 sharpening his skills in preparation for the big D-day where Pharaoh needed an urgent interpretation that will, in turn, see him – Joseph, become the prime minister. He had behaved all along as though he was consciously waiting for this sudden abundance that happened to him.

So here’s the lesson in today’s LIFECLASS. Make sure you’re always preparing for something. Prepare for an examination when it’s not yet time for exams. Prepare for those interviews before you ever get called for them because when you get called, there’d be no time left to prepare. Prepare for marriage when you’re still single by keeping yourself sexually pure and adding value to yourself. That will inform the kind of partner God will send your way and the kind of marriage you will have afterward. Prepare for that big client when you don’t yet have them so that when the big contracts show up, you don’t lose them because you don’t have a corporate bank account or a registered business or you don’t have a well thought-through business plan. Prepare for your gush of abundance because certainly, abundance will come and it will come suddenly.

Say, “Lord Jesus, wake me up to what I should be doing to prepare for my sudden gush of abundance. Show me my ‘upper room’ where I must wait for my ‘day of Pentecost’. Make it impossible for me to be complacent in the face of the assignments that will prepare me for the D-Day of Abundance in Jesus’ name.” Amen!

Today, I invite you into that opportunity for sudden abundance. Come to Jesus if you haven’t, or if you’re not sure of your salvation. Say, “Lord Jesus. Your Salvation is abundant. I open up to all you have for me. I let go of my sins, Lord, forgive me and blot them out. Thank you for writing my name in the book of Life. I’m free forever in Jesus’ Mighty Name.”

We’ve come to the end of another episode of LIFECLASS. Please join me tomorrow by God’s grace, for another episode. Thanks.
